Description : A ten-day festival of Lord Ganesh is celebrated in great fervour in Maharashtra and other parts of India. Falling around September of each year, the elephant headed god, Ganesh is prayed to. Families bring small and big Ganapathi statues to their homes and kept for periods ranging from 1 to 10 days after which the idols are immersed into a local river or sea. The last day sees the largest crowd of lakhs of people converging onto the sea face of Mumbai, a site to behold.
