Amateur Image Submission and Promotion

Majority World (MW) encourages image submission, whether you are a seasoned professional or an enthusiastic amateur. To encourage the latter category, we have provided the following opportunity;

a) This is not a competition but a means of collecting good work from amateur photography enthusiasts from the majority World and promoting it.

b) We will select ‘themes’ at regular intervals which will be published on our website and advertised though our social media network. Often these themes will be similar to the ones existing on our website. Sometimes they may differ and cover an event/different theme-do check.

c) To enter, complete the entry form online and submit ten photographs per individual.

d) There is no entry fee.

e) Entries must be received by the dates mentioned, generally within two weeks of each announcement. MW takes no responsibility for lost entries.

f) Entries may be colour or black-and-white digital photographs. Moderate digital adjustment (colour correction, cropping, sharpening, etc) is acceptable, but any image with a watermark or signature will be automatically disqualified. Winners will be required to submit original material (high resolution files) for reproduction purposes. Digital entries can be uploaded electronically Submit Here. g) The photographer requires the written consent of all individuals in the photo and consent from individuals who own personal property (buildings, gardens, etc) featured in the photograph, especially where privacy/minors are concerned.

h) By submitting the online form, the photographer grants MW the right to publish the images along with the photographer’s name for marketing and promotional purposes. The photographer will not receive further compensation for such publication. It is the responsibility of the contestant to ensure that publication of the photographs raises no legal claims. The photographer must own all rights to any photographs entered in this contest which are subsequently also divested with MW.

i) Photographs previously published, in full or in part, will be disqualified.

j) Professional and semi-professional photographers (any photographers who earn more than ,000 a year selling their photographs) are not eligible to enter.

k) Each photographer will be required to declare that: (a) he/she doesn’t work as a professional; (b) the photograph submitted is his/her original work; (c) the photograph was taken at the location specified on the entry form.

l) Only the photographer has the right to submit a photograph.

m) Entries will be judged by MW staff and their decisions are final. Photographers will be notified of successful entry. MW staff will also select two ‘staff favourites.’

n) By submitting the online entry form, the photographer consents to the entry of his/her submission and agrees to abide by these rules or any other reasonable ones in the future.
